Scott Cole joined USA Gymnastics as director of event operations in November 2020. He joined the organization with over 14 years of event experience by way of Varsity Brands, the worldwide leader in cheerleading and dance. Cole previously held the titles of vice president of event operations, brand manager and sales advisor. His experience in sales taught him the importance of customer service and how it translates to organizational excellence which pushed him to jump into the world of event management. As vice president, he oversaw delivery of more than 45 athletic events per year across nine distinct brands. In 2021 at USA Gymnastics, Cole and his team safely and successfully hosted the Nastia Liukin Cup, Winter Cup, the U.S. Classic, the U.S. Championships, the USA Gymnastics Championships, and the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. The end result? An Olympic Gymnastics Team Trials single-session attendance record of 20,815 fans for the final night of the Women’s Olympic Trials and an overall attendance of 64,677 over four sessions. Cole’s focus continues to be on athlete safety and reimagining what premier gymnastic competitions look like in the future by improving the overall event experience for all.
