Fara Gorsi

Development Manager, ICC (International Cricket Council) Americas

Fara Gorsi is a pioneer in the world of women’s sports. Originally from Greater Manchester, England, Gorsi obtained a bachelor’s degree in sports management from the University of Salford. She became a qualified sports agent, initially working as an intermediary for the English Football Association (FA).

Cricket is Gorsi’s biggest sporting passion and the sport where she has made significant contributions as a trailblazer off the field. In 2012, Gorsi became the first British Asian woman to be certified as a registered sports agent by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB). During her five-year tenure working for the ThinkSports agency, she represented numerous high-profile international cricketers.

In 2017, Gorsi moved to Colorado to take on the role as the International Cricket Council’s Regional Development Manager for cricket in the Americas, 16 countries in the Western Hemisphere. In this position, Gorsi has been responsible on behalf of cricket’s global governing body for overseeing the growth and development of the sport cricket., maintaining professional relationships with all international sports governing bodies and providing support and guidance to all crucial stakeholders (presidents and CEOs) of cricket, including NGBs. Shei is directly involved in supporting and enhancing member capability in creating awareness of the sport, expediting participation, by providing grassroots programs and ensuring alignment that develops strong, effective well-resourced members in the Americas.

These programs, such as the ICC’s introductory cricket initiative known as Criiio, have helped pave the way for more than 100,000 new cricketers to become engaged in the sport across 16 countries throughout the Americas region in partnership with each country’s national governing body.

This has culminated in the USA qualifying for the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup for the inaugural edition of the tournament in South Africa in January 2023 as well as a subsequent berth for the 2025 tournament to be held in Malaysia. During her seven-year tenure, Gorsi has also had an impact behind the scenes in helping to secure major international cricket events to come to North America. In 2021, the ICC awarded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup co-hosting rights to the USA in 2024 and cricket has subsequently gained successful admission as a sport reintroduced for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles where it will be an Olympic medal sport for the first time since 1900.
